The Living Room | Curated by Miah Madden
The inaugural National Indigenous Art Fair (NIAF) Exhibition at the Barangaroo Cutaway precinct brings together a vibrant group presentation, with one work selected from 16 participating art centres. Curated by Miah Madden, the exhibition celebrates the diversity, strength, and continuity of Indigenous artistic practices, with each work reflecting the stories, knowledge, and cultural connections of its community. At the heart of the exhibition, a living room-style display featuring textiles from Merrepen Arts grounding the exhibition in a space of lived experience, connection, and cultural expression. Together, the works form a collective that is both distinct and deeply interconnected, offering a rich and layered encounter with contemporary Indigenous art. Presented across the NIAF weekend, the 3rd - 5th of July, the exhibition invites audiences to engage with and support the artists and art centres behind each work. All works will be available for purchase, with proceeds returned in full to the contributing art centres, reinforcing the fair’s commitment to ethical exchange and the ongoing vitality of Indigenous art practices.
